How to update Joomla 1.5.x using Akeeba Admin Tools

Written by Scott Greenwald Posted in Extension Reviews, Joomla Tutorials

This quick video tutorial is for all of you Joomla 1.5.x users out there. If you're not yet ready to migrate to Joomla 2.5, then you should at least be keeping your 1.5 version up to date with the latest security releases. (The latest version to date is 1.5.26).

Updating your Joomla version in 1.5 has long been a manual process, which can be intimidating if you're uncomfortable using ftp or your hosting cpanel. In fact, it's because of this that the new version of Joomla (2.5) has an update-manager built right into the core. It notifies you when new versions are available, which you can install with the click of a button.

But, for now you can get that same type of auto-update functionality in Joomla 1.5 with a nice little component called Akeeba Admin Tools. It's by far the fastest and easiest way to bring your Joomla 1.5 site up to date. And it's made by the folks from Akeeba Backup, a must-have tool that's in use on thousands of Joomla sites.

Since I love Joomla 1.5 so much, I made a quick video about Akeeba Admin Tools that you should watch above. If you're looking for a good extension to make your life easier, then you'll want to take 5 minutes to watch this video.

Good luck upgrading & long live Joomla 1.5 ;) I'd be curious to know how your upgrade goes. Let me know about it in the comments below.
